Welcome to the Hickstionary, a landing spot for all things H family.
I'm Heidi. He's Rusty. And together we have our beautiful babe, Beckett and a furry menace, Dakota.
I mostly use this space to brag about how awesome the kid is, whine about how naughty the dog is & share an occasional deep thought.
Thanks for hanging out with us as we figure out this [blessed] life!

I guess the word is out.....

Well I keep having tons of people asking so I guess I should make an official blog announcement!

YES, I have an official leave of absence from my 'real job' for next year. And NO, I'm guessing most of the rumors you've heard about why aren't true. (Though I've learned lots about what is apparently going on in my life right now, yikes!) And to answer the big health question, (thankfully) I do not have cancer (though I'm wondering what I must look like that people think that). I do have autoimmune issues. But they are controllable and I am going to be a okay. Thanks for asking.

In the mean-time, I'm super excited about the opportunity to work from home next year.

And I hope y'all will accept this as our life update for now. More to come soon. (I always say that don't I?)

facebook

I know it's been awhile since I've blogged when even my mom comments on my lack of blogging.
I know it's been awhile since I've been on the actual computer for facebook (or anything else for that matter) when my facebook has 378 new notifications.

And speaking of facebook.... (Yes, Mrs. Horn, I know you wouldn't approve of that transition but I'm trying to ease myself back into blogging here... bear with me).

I've been on it less lately. It had gotten annoying overwhelming. I was tired of reading the many many statuses with 'FML' behind them (pardon my language) .

One day I decided if I was going to use facebook I needed to start looking at the statuses as prayer requests instead of complaints by whiney babies. It actually worked. I feel a lot less annoyed stressed when logging on and I feel a lot better about the friends on my friends list.

Enough that I've decided to keep my brother on my friends list after he posted this:

Ha. I guess this isn't funny unless you know his dry sense of humor that's often at other's expense. And it's really not as funny unless you know my little cousin's naivety and all the time seriousness. Because he is totally making fun of people. And she is total serious about the sale.

Mmm. Okay so maybe it wasn't that funny after all.

Back to editing. :)

I had fun seeing Kari at her baby shower and catching up with Kelsey during it. Kelsey reminded me that I suck at blogging (you know she's too nice for those to be her words- they're mine). It's true though so I thought I'd share another trip photo. Here we are at the bottom of Dunn's Falls. It may have been the best day of my life. I know you can't tell by this photo but it was so incredibly peaceful. (Strange because it was supposed to be thrilling.) I finally felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be (and God was saying, "See, I told you so"). It was pretty amazing.

And now I'm off to edit because the current rule is if I choose to use the computer (which has been rare lately) I need to edit at least 5 pictures while I'm on it..... :)
